Between disappointment and pride

1-st minute. The first whistle of referee announced the start of the match for Super Cup of the Old World between UEFA Cup holder Shakhtar Donetsk and Champions League winner Catalan Barcelona.

2-nd minute. Miners calmly started the match. Willian skilfully passed to Ilsinhho who was running into a free zone but the last was stopped by the linesman who fixed off-side .

6-th minute. Lionel Messi served to Shakhtar’s penalty from the right flank - miners’ goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov took the ball.

6-th minute. Donetsk attack was finished with Oleksiy Gai’s kick from behind the penalty but the ball passed the goal.

9-th minute. Oleksiy Gai’s kick was replied by Barcelona’s forward Thierry Henry. After French legionary’s kick the ball flew over the goal of UEFA Cup holder.

16-th minute. In spite of Barcelona’s territorial advantage Shakhtar used all opportunities to make counterattacks one of which was finished with a perspective lob from the left flank performed by Razvan Rat, unfortunately there was no sharpening.

23-rd minute. Mircea Lucescu’s charges acted in defence very tightly and disciplinary actually allowing the rival kick only from long distances. After Keita’s kick from behind the penalty the ball passed the goal.

31-st minute. Oleksiy Gai lobbed from the left flank but Barcelona’s fullback Pique skilfully threw the ball dawn with his chest to the goalkeeper of his team Victor Valdes.

44-th minute. Lionel Messi performed a penalty - after the ricochet from Olexandr Kucher the ball went to the corner.

53-rd minute. Dani Alves strongly kicked from the penalty but the ball flew over the goal.


55-th minute. For the rough play on Zlatan Ibrahimovic miners’ halfback Ilsinho got a yellow card.

58-th minute. One of rare attacks was finished with Razvan Rat’s kick, after the ricochet from a fullback the ball was fixed by Barcelona’s goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

65-th minute. Captain of Shakhtar Darijo Srna for the planned derangement of Catalans’ attacks got a yellow card.

71-st minute. After Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s throwing “scissors” over himself Thierry Henry tried to kick but garnet & blue forward missed the ball.

76-th minute. The laces of Guardiola’s charges materialized into Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s kick - Andriy Pyatov was on his place.

80-th minute. Head coach of Shakhtar Mircea Lucescu made some corrections. Instead of Fernandinho and Oleksiy Gai came Vasyl Kobin and Jadson. At the same time substitution was made in the staff of Barcelona. Zlatan Ibrahimovic went to the bench, Rodriguez substituted him.

86-th minute. After the serve from the flank Carles Puyol kicked from a short distance, after the ricochet from Olexandr Kucher the ball got to Andriy Pyatov.

90-th minute. The fever pitch reached its limit. After the brawl between Lionel Messi and Darijo Srna both of them got yellow cards.

90+3 minute. The main time of the match was finished by a score 0:0. 30 minutes were added.

91-st minute. Substitution in the staff of miners. Julius Agakhova substituted Willian.

96-th minute. Barcelona’s coach substituted Thierry Henry by Bojan Krkic.

99-th minute. Shakhtar was close to lead. After Vasyl Kobin’s pass Julius Agakhova ran into the rival’s penalty but Valdes coped with his kick having sent the ball to the corner by an excellent save.

102-nd minute. Krkic finished his individual passage by the kick to the near corner of Pyatov’s goal but Andriy managed to take the threat aside with his foot.

106-th minute. Luis Adriano ran into Barcelona’s penalty he was knocked down by Catalan fullback but referee didn’t whistle, regulations were kept.

107-th minute. Rodriguez got the yellow card for simulation.

113-th minute. Vasyl Kobin after Jadson’s excellent pass passed ahead of Carles Puyol, but failed to kick from an advantageous position.

115-th minute. Goal - 1:0. The key moment of the match. Lionel Messi with a fantastic pass took Rodriguez to the scoring position and with an accurate kick to the low corner of Pyatov’s goal he opened the score of the match.

119-th minute. Vasyl Kobin got a yellow card for the rough play against Messi.

120-th minute. Two hours of play time are finished. Referees final whistle announced that Barcelona became UEFA Super Cup holder 2009.

The disappointment borders on the pride for miners’ selfless play.
