FC Shakhtar Director International Competitions needs no introduction. Ľuboš Micheľ was born on 16 May 1968 in Svidnik (Slovakia). Having taken charge of Slovak Superliga match first in 1993, Micheľ became a FIFA referee the same year.

One of the top-level football referees in the world, Ľuboš Micheľ was taking charge of the 2003 UEFA Cup Final. He also appeared at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2004, refereeing the quarter-final.

Micheľ was selected as a referee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He also took charge of the 2008 UEFA Champions League Final between Manchester United and Chelsea.

In October 2008 Ľuboš Micheľ signed a contract with Shakhtar Donetsk as the Director International Competitions.

Apart from his main occupation, Ľuboš got education in two fields: teaching and managing. He speaks English, German, Polish and Russian well.
