Razvan Rat: I have talked with Srna and Eduardo

Our phone call reached Razvan Rat in Minsk where Shakhtar defender and the Romania international player was getting ready for the second round match for Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. At our request, Razvan tried to make an in-depth analysis of his national team’s last fixture against Albania.

- Razvan, the draw in a match against Albania came as a surprise for many people. What were the reasons behind failing to claim the first three points in a starting match for Euro 2012 qualifying campaign?
- We are experiencing the same difficulties that once pursued Shakhtar. I mean that in a match with Albania, we have not converted a lot of goal scoring opportunities, a couple of times the ball hit the bar ... The Albanians were on target only once in the match thanks to the free-kick. And, unfortunately, that single scoring opportunity, created by them on 89 minutes, turned into goal. Of course, it is a pity to concede a goal on the last minutes but I reckon it is called “bad luck”. We got very upset. We understand that the loss of points in home game means a lot. Now we have to play with the Belarus team, who beat France in an away fixture. Most likely, it will be very tough.

- You played the first match after the break connected to the injury. Was it difficult to run for 90 minutes long?
- No, it was not difficult. I felt very well physically. Everything is fine.

- Have you called to any of your teammates in Shakhtar, recently?
- I have talked only with Srna and Eduardo. I know that Dario scored and his team won. Of course, I know that Shakhtar won the match against Rapid with a score of 1:2, although the game itself, unfortunately, I was unable to see.

- When are you returning to Donetsk?
- Tomorrow night we are playing vs. Belarus national team, and on September 8 at dinner I will be in Donetsk.
